Welcome Back Staff Breakfast Friday, 9/11

Hello Hillview Families!

September 11th will be our Welcome Back Staff Breakfast. We provide a delightful breakfast to our amazing Hillview staff, which is part donation from you, our Hillview Families, and part catered from the HSA. We are so excited to get back to the routine and have a fun year planned for Hillview! We’d love to have you join us at our first meeting September 22nd at 7 pm in the APR.
Come hear about all we do, all we support, and how and where all of our fundraising goes. But more importantly, come get involved and share your ideas for fun things we can do throughout the year.

**Panther Paw Cookie (with gluten-free option) for our Last 1/2 Day Snack Sale of the Year, Thursday, June 18th!**
Hello Hillview Families!

For our last half-day snack sale on Thursday, June 18th, the HSA will be offering a Panther Paw cookie made by one of our own Hillview parents, a Panther Paw gluten-free cookie made by Defying Gravitea, and mini chocolate chip cookies from Made Good as an allergy-friendly option.
**To order:**
Fill out the form by clicking here or on the flyer below, and send a Venmo payment to @Hillview-HSA or send in cash/check made payable to Hillview HSA. If you choose to fill out a Google form, then you do not need to fill out a hard copy. It's one or the other, but please complete at least one of them in addition to payment. Additionally, if payment is not received by 6/10, the order cannot be fulfilled.
**Take Home Option:**
Only one snack per student is allowed, however, parents have the option to purchase additional Panther Paw cookies for the students to take home with them as a take home treat. They will go home with the eldest child.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Dear Hillview Families,

It's that time of year when we show our incredible Hillview teachers and staff our appreciation for working so hard with our children. This year, Teacher Appreciation Week at Hillview is May 11-15 and we will be pampering our teachers with a Floral Garden themed week thanking them for "helping our children bloom." The week will be filled with lots of delicious food, transforming the teacher's lounge with beautiful decor and some fun extras! **Art Show on 4/28**
Come see what your student has been up to in Art class this year!
Our Annual Art show will take place Tuesday, May 28th, from 6-8 pm. Artwork for students K-4 will be displayed in the hallways outside the gymnasium. This year each 5th grader will have an individual tri-fold showcasing their artwork inside the gym.

**Scholastic Book Fair 4/27 & 4/28 at Hillview!**
Hello Hillview Families,
Hillview's Scholastic Book Fair is coming next Monday, 4/27 & Tuesday, 4/28. Hillview Students will visit the book fair with their classes during the school day on both days. The book fair is also OPEN TO THE PUBLIC on Tuesday evening from 6pm-8pm in the Gymnasium (Back entrance of Hillview) and both days afterschool from 3:00-3:45 p.m. so feel free to share with friends/family/community members!

It's almost time for Hillview's Annual Book Fair which means it's time for the "All For Books" Scholastic Classroom Coin Challenge which begins Monday, April 20th, and ends Friday, April 24th. Every cent raised will go directly back to us to help buy books for classroom libraries at Hillview!
**Starting Monday, 4/20** each classroom will receive a coin donation box. Each day, students can bring in loose change to put in the box. Let's see which class will win the challenge by the end of the week! The top earning class will win an Ice-Pop Party on top of books earned! Good luck!

**20 for 20 WILD about Reading Challenge March 26th thru April 14th**
Hello Hillview Families,
Let's get WILD about READING with the e 20 for 20 Reading Challenge, March 26th thru April 14th.
Please keep an eye out in your child's folder for the form to complete to earn a $3 coupon for the upcoming Book Fair!! Forms will be sent home 3/25 or 3/26; you can also print a copy from below.
Directions:
Read for 20 minutes each day for 20 consecutive days. Some days, you may want to have someone else read to you. That’s okay sometimes, too! Color in a photo below each day you complete the task. Forms are due back to the teacher by April 16th with parent signature to earn a $3 coupon for the BOOK FAIR which is scheduled for 4/27 & 4/28 during class time and after school hours. **FAQ**
**1. Do I have to dress according to the theme?** We have included some outfit inspo (think sparkly, gemstones, blingy, diamond studded jean jackets, possibilities are endless) below if you want to but No, you do not have to dress according to the theme. Some come in jeans and a nicer top, or dress pants, or a cocktail dress/button down shirt with slacks, etc. Don’t stress about being on theme!! It’s a fun night regardless.
**2. How does the night flow?** Night starts off with cocktail hour with passed around hors d’oeuvres while attendees purchase/choose how to use their tricky tray tickets, followed by buffet dinner, open bar, dancing, prizes drawn, & family style dessert on tables.
**3. Do I have to have a full table to purchase tickets?** Nope! In fact, many do not register with full tables. We can sit you with your whole party with others who do not have full tables or if you are unsure of your table at time of registration, just put it in the notes and we will follow back up with you when making tables.
**4. Should I attend?** Yes!! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and raises about 50% of our operating budget for the next school year. Do you know the HSA funds all of Hillview’s assemblies, provides recess equipment that is replaced numerous times throughout the school year, supplies for teachers, scholarships for PTHS graduates that came from Hillview, field day activities, and contributes $20+ per student for field trip transportation, among so many other things? FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS

Science Fair

Thank you to Mr. Belardo and the volunteers from the Science Fair committee for another successful Science Fair! The Science Fair was held February 6 and there was a great turnout of projects and spectators! The students did an outstanding job on their projects and had the opportunity to present their findings to their classmates and parents.

Hillview Elementary Tackles Hunger

Over the past few weeks, Hillview students and families have been working as a team to Tackle Hunger! Each classroom brought in items, and collections were counted weekly as we moved closer to the goal line. All donated items were delivered to the Pequannock Food Pantry to help families in need. First Place: 4M with an incredible 267 items — earning a well-deserved pizza party! But at Hillview, everyone is a winner, because together we showed what teamwork, kindness, and community spirit can do. Thank you to all of our Hillview players for helping us make a difference! Hillview's Grand Total: 1,216! Hillview can tackle anything!

K.I.S.S. Dance

The Hillview K.I.S.S Dance was an incredible night filled with energy, laughter, and unforgettable memories! With 332 guests in attendance, the evening was truly a wonderful celebration of our school community. From the music and dancing to the decorations, the atmosphere was full of excitement and school spirit. A huge thank you goes out to our amazing committee members whose hard work, creativity, and dedication made this event such a success. We are so grateful for your time, effort, and commitment to creating such a special experience for our Hillview families. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the Hillview K.I.S.S Dance a night to remember!

We are excited for our 4th Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest!

Pick your best pumpkin and decorate, design or carve at home. Bring to school to be judged on 10/31, please not before!
All pumpkins should be brought directly to the main entrance at drop off.

Please make sure the student's name and class is written on the back or bottom of the pumpkin. Please pick up the pumpkin after the Halloween Parade in the pavilion. All pumpkins not picked up by the end of day will be discarded.

The winner will be announced on October 31st. Winner will receive a gift card!
